Smoke Jaguar Dossier: Locust IIC

Smoke Jaguar Dossier

Type: Battlemech

Name: Locust IIC

Mech Class: Light

Weight: 25 Tons

Tech Base: Clan

Description:
One of the best known BattleMechs in the Inner Sphere for its low production and operation costs, the Locust is also well known in the Clans. In 2832, Clan Mongoose unleashed an upgraded version of the venerable 'Mech on the Clans, known as the Locust IIC. The speedy design complemented Mongoose tactics, enabling them to win many Trials. When Clan Smoke Jaguar absorbed the Mongooses, they became the owners of the production line on Circe. Since it is a second-line unit Inner Sphere MechWarriors rarely see it in action.

Armament:
Designed as a fast and light reconnaissance vehicle, the Locust was also tasked with fast-strike raids and at least became a front-line unit in the Inner Sphere. Larger than the original Locust, the IIC gives MechWarriors comparable speed with more protection and terrifying offensive capabilities. The main armament consists of a Medium Pulse Laser, flanked by eight Extended Range Small Lasers, allowing the Locust to be an excellent anti-infantry BattleMech with capabilities to harass heavier BattleMechs. Its larger size also allows it to be a more durable weapon platform, the Locust IIC is a far more difficult enemy than its Inner Sphere twin.

Captain Nash's Analysis:  You folks have already faced one of these guys.  Just realized you never saw the dossier on it.   Might just be the scariest 25 ton mech ever created.  Keep it at arms reach and you should be ok.  When those eight ER small lasers come into play is when it gets ugly.

Smoke Jaguar Dossier: Arctic Cheetah (Hankyu)

 Smoke Jaguar Dossier

Type: Battlemech

Name: Arctic Cheetah (Hankyu)

Mech Class: Light

Weight: 30 Tons

Tech Base: Clan

Description:
The Arctic Cheetah was originally designed by Clan Ice Hellion to replace the Mist Lynx OmniMech. Shortly after they began production in 3037, Clan Smoke Jaguar conquered the factory on Foster that produced the design, enabling the Jaguars the replace their Mist Lynx 'Mechs. The design was dubbed the Hankyu (Japanese for "short bow") by the Draconis Combine forces that first encountered it during the Battle of Luthien.

The Arctic Cheetah uses all the weight-saving materials that were available to the Clans in the 3030s: an Endo Steel structure, an XL Engine, and four tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor. It maintains enough jump jets in the base chassis to leap up to one hundred eighty meters at a time.

Armament:
Every variant of the Arctic Cheetah mounts a modular Flamer somewhere on the 'Mech for anti-infantry work. The most common configuration to Clan Smoke Jaguar and Clan Nova Cat uses a pair of LRM-5s and ER Medium Lasers, enabling it to excel in medium-range work. The primary configuration is also an incredible scout, mounting an Active Probe, ECM Suite, and TAG.

Variants:
* Alt. Config. A - The most popular variant in Clan Steel Viper adds a Small Pulse Laser and a pair of Streak SRM-6s to the Flamer.

* Alt. Config. B - Appealing to patient warriors, the bravo configuration uses an LB 2-X AC, a Medium Pulse Laser, and an ER Medium Laser.

* Alt. Config. C - This variant excels in urban combat and scouting thanks to its Active Probe. This hunter-killer makes use of four ER Medium Lasers and a pair of Medium Pulse Lasers in addition to the standard Flamer.

* Alt. Config. D - A capable long-range missile boat, configuration D mounts a pair of LRM-10s and a Medium Pulse Laser.

Captain Nash's Analysis: Light most clan lights, this mech is over gunned and under armored.  Be wary of the TAG system, you guys have seen how helpful they can be, this guy has one.

Mission #2, Odds and Ends (11/4 edit)

Mechs have been selected for Mission #3

Added Gregg and a new mech for Josh.  Furlow managed to get the Kintaro up and running from the scrap pile behind the Kurita mech yard we captured in mission #1 (Had to add a mech that wouldn't disrupt the Mech selection process we had already done.)

And the Mechwarrior Roster...
(Issued Callsigns to those that had yet to pick one.  Still need a skill choice from Josh)

And Mech History by Mechwarrior...
(Again added Gregg.  Nice way to quickly stroll down memory lane.  Just so happens my 2nd Javelin mini is painted in Kurita colors, so the whole force will be in Kurita colors except the two "Sensor" mechs)

Mission #2: Killboard, Salvage, Mechbay and Roster

First up the Killboard. This is it set in stone, don't like it too bad.  Kills are awarded for bold actions, doing or saying something that makes most or everyone in the room laugh, and whenever I feel like it.  Anyways here it is for Mission #2.
Click for larger image
Next up are the Mech losses.  Players lost a Panther, Whitworth and Valkyrie.  So Josh, Poe and Caster are are mechless at this time.

We didn't get any salvage from this mission but there is quite a bit of good news.  First the Bad news, Merloni wasn't forthcoming on his injuries from the dropship crash.  Turns our he has a broken leg, and a pretty bad concussion, without proper medical facilities he won;t be piloting a mech for quite a while.  That puts the Raven in our Mech Bay.

Next up, Tech Juan Manillo is quite the weapons expert.  Turns out he worked in an AC factory before becoming a mech tech.  He was able to piece together an Clan Ultra AC2, from the parts of the 11 Ultra AC2's we faced in the first battle.  That along with the other clan salvage, and the Koshi cockpit that Maverick grabbed means we can add a Koshi D to our Mechbay at this time.

Finally the best news of all.  While you were on mission, Viper was approached by a the heads of a couple of local cattle farming families.  As Port Arthur was being over run in 3050 by the Smoke Jags there was a Kuritan lance of the 1st Sword of the light that trapped on world.  They hid their mechs in the barns of the Okajima and Matsuzaka farms.  The Mechwarriors were later captured by the Smoke Jags, but the mechs were never found.  They have sat there for almost 10 years.  The Matsuzaka and Okajima families have no love for their Smoke Jaguar oppressors, and while they are not thrilled about handing over the mechs to a Davion unit, they see this as the best chance to strike at the Jaguars.  They may smell a little ripe, but they will help us take the fight to the Jags.  We now have a Phoenix Hawk, Shadow Hawk, Wolf Trap and Wyvern...four solid medium mechs added to the mech bay.

  Mechwarrior Roster after mission #2

Poe and Josh need to pick their second regular bonus skill from the mechwarrior skill list.  They also need to choose with they want to spend the 5 kills to improve their piloting or wait til they have 10 kills to improve their gunnery.

Here is the mech selection order for mission #3 (Corrected)
Poe
Josh
Jeff - Lower tonnage current mech tiebreaker
Caster - Bumped up two spots for two player kills (Blue Falcon Rule)
Pillsbury
Mitch
Viper

Maverick
Larry

That's all for now...

Mission #2: After Action Report

Just before our forces were to set out, Captain Nash thought he picked up a ground unit on the dropship sensors.  Just to be safe Viper stayed behind and patrolled the perimeter in his Vulcan while the rest of the 7th when on the SAR mission for the Raven (Merloni) and Catapult (Garciparra).

As elements of the Lucky 7th approached the two bridges they split into two lances.  Merloni got of a narrowband transmission as the player approached the bridges saying he last saw the Front line clan unit cross the East most bridge (leaving the board).  Lance Alpha for the players consisted of a Clint, Poe in his Valkyrie, Caster in his Panther and Whitworth.  They crossed the western most bridge, headed toward the weapons repair facility.  Lance Beta consisted of  Pillsbury in his Sentinel, Maverick in his Javelin, a Hermes II, and a Jenner.  They crossed the middle bridge headed toward the unknown facility.

(Begin cut-scene)  Lance Alpha spotted two Aerospace fighters coming in at them on a straffing run.  Their tactical displays shows the incoming Smoke Jags were in two Xerxes class fighters, each armed with two Ultra AC20's and 2 ER Large Lasers.  They were not the only ones that saw the fighters coming in...Garciaparra powered up his Catapult and stepped out from his concealed position just as the areospace fighters passed overhead.  He knew the fighters would make quick work of Lance Beta, and fired off an LRM20 at each of the Xerxes soft underbellies.  He managed to splash both of the fighters with critical hits before they could take a shot.  Unfortunately, one of them spiraled into the Easternmost bridge collapsing it.  That however was the least of Garciparra's problems, Ten Elementals lept from the nearby woods right onto his Catapult and began tearing it to pieces.  The power armored infantry managed to critical the LRM Ammo rack.  One of the Elementals happened to be climbing over the Catapult's ejection canopy as safetys engaged punching Garciparra out.  The canopy lifted only about 3 meters with the added ton of powered armor infantry on top of it.  Ramon most likely didn't feel a thing as his ejection seat slammed into the improperly deployed canopy. (End cut-scene)

Lance Beta takes out one of the twin Ultra AC turrets defending the unknown facility.  Lance Alpha sees a under-strengthed star of Inner sphere Smoke Jag mechs coming from the Weapons facility.  The Smoke Jags have a Locust IIC, Firestarter, Assassin, and Spider.  Merloni, powers up his Raven and breaks to join up with Lance Beta, being a little too close to the Elementals and not wishing to share Garciparra's fate.  Three more squads of Elementals emerge from the woods chasing after the Raven.

Lance Beta moves up taking out the remaining Streak SRM6 defensive turret.  Scans reveal the unknown facility to be some sort of cockpit / sensor repair building.  Sitting ready to go in one of the crates is a Koshi omni mech Head assembly.  The Javelin picks up the crate and turns to head back to the bridge.  The rest of Lance Beta pour fire into the western most bridge, thinking that might slow down any pursuit from the Clan front line star that has most likely been alerted to their location.

Lance Alpha engages the Smoke Jag lance.  Mechwarrior Cano in his Locust IIC challenges Caster in his Panther to Honorable combat.  After the second turn of fire the Panther is missing a leg and the players realize the difference between a Locust and a Locust IIC.  The third turn of fire finishes cores the legged Panther, who was given an opportunity to punch out.  The rest of Lance Alpha takes out the Firestarter.

Lance Beta moving back to the bridge notices a Smoke Jag Peregrine mech standing in their deployment zone.  The Peregrine however has it's eyes on the badly damaged Valkyrie from Lance Alpha and heads off in that direction.  Lance Beta with the Raven in and the crate begin to cross back over the middle bridge when a Mad Cat enters the board by the western bridge they were shooting at.  Star Captain Gerigh, challenges Pillsbury to honorable combat hoping to slow the fleeing Davion Mechs.  Gerigh scans the bridge after seeing the damage and estimates that it will not support the weight of his Mad Cat.  He puts an ER Large laser in to the rear torso of Pillsbury's Sentinel.  Mechwarrior Hoyt in a Hankyu comes one to the board in the players deployment area and challenges the Jenner.

Lance Alpha takes out Cano in the Locust IIC with a gyro hit and taking out a leg.  The Valkyrie is in serious trouble with minimal armor left and a Peregrine mech closing in.  Seeing a clear line to the crates in the weapons facility, the Whitworth and Clint (Rather than jumping over the river), head south back to the weapons facility to grab a crate or two.  The Peregrine moves up and finishes the Valk the next turn.

Closing in on leaving the board edge the Javelin and Raven encounter a Firefly C, who does some damage to the Raven, but not enough to stop him from escaping (Primary objective accomplished).  The Javelin leave the board as well securing the Head component for the clan Koshi omni mech.  The Hankyu and Jenner, duke it out on the bridge, neither getting the upper hand.

The next turn the Hermes II gets off the board, The Sentinel and Jenner finish off the Hankyu while taking fire at long range from the Mad Cat.  The Sentinel and Jenner leave the board the following turn.  Just leaving two members of Lance Beta up near the weapons facility.

Five squads of Elementals closing on the Clint and Whitworth, along with the Assassin who has been harrasing the players all game.  The Peregrine challenges the Whitworth.  The Firefly C challeneges the Clint even though he is multiple turns away for being in weapons range.  The Clint scans the crates at the weapons facility and grabs a crate that has a clan large pulse laser.

The Peregrine finally finishes off the Whitworth taking out the CT.  There might have been 10 points of armor left on the Whitworth...no grouping whats so ever on any shots that hit it throughout the game.  The Clint realizes that he will not have a chance to get off the table without using his jumpjets, drops the crate and flees off the table before the FireflyC can put enough accurate fire into him.

Smoke Jaguar losses: Firestarter, Locust IIC, Hankyu, 3 turrets, two small crates.

Davion losses: Panther, Whitworth, Valkyrie

Kill board and salvage reports to follow in a couple days.

(More detailed Images to come on this page, want to restage some of the key moments.)

Mission Briefing: Mission #2

Mission 2:Rescue the Raven

Primary Objectives:
+ Cross river to search for two Davion Mechwarriors
+ Locate Private Merloni in his Raven Battlemech
+ Locate Sargent Garciparra in his Catapult Battlemech
+ Return across river to Extraction point.

Secondary Objectives:
+ Destroy all Smoke Jaguar forces encountered
+ Locate supply crates and return with them to Extraction point.

Mission Briefing:
Two of our guys are trapped in Smoke Jag territory.  They have gotten to a river which the Raven will need a bridge to cross (Catapult has Jump Jets).  They are waiting for us to help escort them back across the river to our area of operations.

1)     Cross river to search for two Davion Mechwarriors.  Two Bridges lead to the area that we believe they are in.

2)     Locate Merloni and Garciparra. They are hiding in some wooded areas that over look two Smoke Jaguar Facilities.  They will remain in a near shutdown state to avoid detection until they are discovered or you folks are close enough to escort them back across the river.

3)      Return across river to extraction point.   The Raven doesn't have Jump jets, So don't think about taking those bridges out until after the Raven has crossed them.

4)  Secure some supplies (optional).  Merloni was able to scan the larger of the two facilities without being detected, seems that it is a weapons repair facility.  Should be some crates ready to snatch up.  He was not sure what was in the other facility, but did see some crates outside.

5) Destroy Smoke Jaguar forces (optional)  Big picture, we are her to take down the Smoke Jags.  That job will be a lot easier down the road with a Raven and a Catapult among our ranks.  Getting those boys to safety takes priority over inflicting damage for this mission.

Expected Jaguar forces:
Merloni has seen two stars of Clan mechs patrolling the area.  Safe bet that are searching for our guys and will respond quickly to the area when we show up.

The first seemed like a Solahama unit mostly made up of mostly inner sphere mechs.
Locust IIC, Firestarter, Assassin, Spider, Commando

The Second seemed like a front line unit.  Probably all Jaguar Regulars.
Shadow Cat, Peregrine, Hankyu, Koshi, Firefly-C

Merloni also noticed an increase in Aerospace activity over the last  24 hours.  Guessing they are closing in on finding our guys.

Good Luck!

- Nash out -

Mission #2: Recon Photos

Here are the Recon photos of the area Merloni and Garciaparra are hiding in. (Each image clickable for larger view)

The insertion point.  Bridges are rated at 120CF, so don't overload them or you will be swimming home.  The intersection shown here is also your extraction point.

We believe our boys are hiding in the trees in the lower left of this picture.  You will note the two Jag facilities in the area.  Your entry is in the upper right.

Merloni reports this is some sort of Smoke Jag weapon repair facility.  Should be some crates in this area.

Merloni is unsure what this building does.  Also note the third bridge, this one will not lead you back to our area.  Note the impassible hills with the white rocks.

Mission Briefing should be up in the next couple days.

Nash out.

Smoke Jaguar Dossier: Elemental Battle Armor

Smoke Jaguar Dossier

Type: Battle Armor

Name: Elemental

Weight: 1 Ton

Tech Base: Clan

Description:
The standard against which all battle armor is measured, the Elemental battle armor was first introduced in 2868 by Clan Wolf in a Trial of Possession against the Nova Cats. It was a marvel of Clan  engineering that allowed a small group of Clan Elementals to take down large 'Mechs and survive the encounter. While it is possible for a normal-sized human to use the battle armor, this design is tailored for the Clans' giant Elemental warriors and only they can bring out its fullest potential.

Armament:
Clan Elemental Battle Armor mounts one primary and one secondary weapon, plus a detachable SRM-2  pack. If two missiles are fired, the trooper may aim them at the same target or at two different targets that both lie within the firer's forward 90-degree firing arc. The launcher holds a total of four missiles. Once the missiles have been expended the launcher may be jettisoned, improving mobility. The suit is also equipped with a strong manipulative claw that adds to the melee attack damage as well as to climbing the target 'Mech. The modular weapon mount may accommodate a variety of heavy weapons, including a Small Laser, Flamer, or Machine Gun. The anti-personnel weapon mount carries a projectile weapon that is effective against unarmored targets, such as a sub-machine gun.

History:
The roots of the Elemental battle armor can be traced back to pressurized diving suits built by Clan Goliath Scorpion. These underwater suits already had most of the basic equipment common to current battle armor designs: myomer musculature, self-contained air-supply and life support systems, and heavy, atmospherically sealed bodies designs to handle extreme conditions. Clan Wolf  saw the diving suit's potential and began to convert some they had acquired for combat, adding on armor, weapons, and small jump jets.

After the first use of the armor in 2868 against the Nova Cats, the Wolves entered into a series of trials later that year with Clan Hell's Horses. The Wolves put their new battle armor up against the Hell's Horses genetically engineered infantry, the precursor to the modern Clan Elemental. When the trials were over, the Hell's Horses had won the Wolves battle armor technology, and the Wolves had gotten the needed information to breed their own Elementals. Almost immediately, each Clan combined their own technology with that of the other, creating the tradition of matching Elemental troops with battle armor. Within a short period of time, battle armored Elemental troop deployments spread across Clan forces.

Captain Nash's Mission #2 Analysis:  It is safe to say eventually we will be running into some Elementals.  My advice is not not let them get close.  If they get on your mech they will get through the armor.  So keep them at range if possible.  An Elemental suit has been known to shrug off the blast of a PPC, or remain functioning after two shots from a medium laser.  They also don't hold to the Clan dueling code, so they will swarm you with multiple squads if they can.  Guess they figure attacking something at least 20 times their size is honorable enough.
There is one effective tactic if a squad of elementals are assaulting your mech and climbing the way to your cockpit.  Stop, drop and roll.  Knocks them off every time.

Smoke Jaguar Dossier: Firefly C

Smoke Jaguar Dossier

Type: Battlemech

Name: Firefly

Mech Class: Light

Weight: 30 Tons

Tech Base: Inner Sphere (Clan upgrades)

Description:
Until the arrival of Wolf's Dragoons, the Firefly was a 'Mech thought to be extinct from the rigors of the Succession Wars. The Firefly is a well-armed recon 'Mech that tips the scales at thirty tons. Since it was reintroduced to the Inner Sphere, the 'Mech has been refitted by the Wolf's Dragoons with Star League technology. It has a maximum ground speed of 86.4 km/h and can jump up to one hundred and twenty meters. As a scout 'Mech, the Firefly gives average performance with its energy weapon-heavy arsenal and is useful in both a recon and in a guerilla fighter role.

Armament:
The Firefly is armed with a Coventry Five-Tube LRM-5  for long-range firepower and to attempt to keep enemies at a distance. If facing a determined enemy that is intent on closing, the Firefly carries three Martell Medium Lasers, which can cause a considerable amount of damage. Finally, to protect against missile attacks, the Firefly carries a Sure Fire 444 Anti-Missile System.

Variants:
Firefly C - This is a variant of the Firefly that has been upgraded with all Clan technology. The Firefly C is built on an Endo Steel chassis and is armed with four ER Small Lasers, three Medium Pulse Lasers, and an SRM-2 launcher.

Captain Nash's Mission #2 Analysis: From time to time the clanners take Inner Sphere designs and upgrade their weapons with clan tech.  These mechs are listed with a "C" after their name to denote the "Clan" variant (Such as Atlas C).  This is not to be confused with a "IIC" which is where the clanners have totally redesigned a mech using an inner sphere mech as a template (Such as the Hunchback IIC).   Merloni reported that a Firefly was one of the mechs he spotted.  Being such a rare design I'm going to assume the Smoke Jags have upgraded it to the Firefly C variant.

Smoke Jaguar Dossier: Peregrine (Horned Owl)

Smoke Jaguar Dossier

Type: Battlemech

Name: Peregrine (Horned Owl)

Mech Class: Light

Weight: 35 Tons

Tech Base:Clan

Description:
The Horned Owl (or Peregrine, as the Inner Sphere knows it) is a light, fast second-line BattleMech capable of highly accurate fire. A harassing platform, the Horned Owl is also a capable dueling 'Mech. Five tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor provide adequate protection for the light 'Mech.

Armament:
Armed with a single Large Pulse Laser and a Medium Pulse Laser in each arm, the Horned Owl's devastatingly accurate fire can quickly destroy other light 'Mechs.

Variants:
Horned Owl 2 - This variant trades in its lasers for six LRM-5s  and four tons of ammunition. Though it is entirely ammunition-dependent, this model can provide light Stars with sustained support, as it will not build heat under normal circumstances.

Captain Nash's Mission #2 Analysis:  Details on another of the mechs Merloni spotted in his area.  This guy is very accurate with his fire having all Pulse lasers.  He will make short work of light mechs.  Safe bet that he will be jumping about making himself much harder to hit as well.

Task Force Serpent Dossier: Raven RVN-3L

Raven RVN-3L

Task Force Serpent Dossier

Type:Battlemech

Name: Raven

Mech Class:Light

Weight: 35 Tons

Tech Base: Inner Sphere

Description:
The Raven is a technological marvel and employs a large number of advanced electronic warfare systems, possibly making it the most advanced light 'Mech on the field, at least in detection and targeting equipment. It was first built by the Capellan Confederation as an electronics test bed unit that was pushed into combat during the Fourth Succession War, when the Federated Suns made a concentrated effort to destroy the Liao state. Since that time rediscovered Star League technology has allowed the Raven to reach its full potential.

The Raven has a maximum speed of 97.2 km/h, which is respectable for a 'Mech of its weight class. It is armored with four and a half tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor, giving it good protection. To further its survivability, it is outfitted with CASE to protect against any ammunition explosions. The 'Mech is also powered by an XL Engine and carries some of the most advanced electronics warfare equipment in the Inner Sphere.

Armament:

The Raven carries a small weapons array that is nevertheless respectable for its size. The primary weapon on board the Raven is a pair of Ceres Arms Medium Lasers. These are backed up by a Harpoon-6 SRM-6 to finish off any enemy units that it does engage. Generally, the Raven  is kept out of direct firefights though, as it is more valuable as a recon or electronics warfare asset than as a front line combat 'Mech.

Electronics Suite:
What made the Raven famous is its ECM suite. Early models carried 7.5 ton of electronic warfare equipment that was noted for lackluster performance.

The recovery of lostech soon made the original ECM equipment obsolete, and later versions of the Raven completely replaced it with a combination of advanced systems, namely an Apple Churchill Beagle Active Probe, an Apple Churchill Guiding Light Narc Missile Beacon, an Apple Churchill Guardian ECM Suite, and finally an Apple Churchill 442x TAG.

Variants:
RVN-2X - Many of the Ravens captured by the Federated Suns in the Fourth Succession War were refitted to the 2X standard. It replaces the EW equipment with a Large Laser and raises the armor to sixth-and-a-half tons.

Captain Nash's Mission #2 Analysis:  We received a distress call from a Private Louis Merloni from the 1st Davion Guards - 12th Company.  Message was very garbled, and cut off almost immediately.  Where our long range communications are still down, it must have come from the Leopard Dropship we saw go down north of us.  Message stated he and a Sargent Ramon Garciaparra were on planet and needed assistance.  That's all we got.  Merloni was last assigned to a Raven RVN-3L, one of the few in the FedComm that hadn't been converted to the 2X variant.  Garciparra was assigned a Catapult CPLT-C4.  Chances are they are in the area of the Dropship crash, avoiding detection using Merloni's Raven ECM.  Working up a Mission Briefing to go and find those guys. Adding that Raven to our ranks would be very helpful in our fight against the Jags.

Smoke Jaguar Dossier: Koshi (Mist Lynx)

Smoke Jaguar Dossier

Type: Battlemech

Name:Koshi (Mist Lynx)

Mech Class: Light (Omni-mech)

Weight: 25 Tons

Tech Base:Clan

Description:
Weighing in at twenty five tons, the Mist Lynx is a lightweight workhorse OmniMech. The Mist Lynx is a common light OmniMech among the Invading Clans, and is part of the touman of every clan. The Mist Lynx was designed and most commonly fielded by Clan Smoke Jaguar and earned the code name Koshi, or "small death", from the Draconis Combine forces which encountered it.

The Mist Lynx is built on a lightweight Endo Steel chassis to save weight and is powered by a 175 XL engine that gives the 'Mech a top speed of 118.8 km/h. The Mist Lynx also has six Jump Jets that allow the 'Mech to jump up to one hundred and eighty meters. The Mist Lynx has a fixed Active Probe that allows the 'Mech to protect itself from ambush by letting it detect any hidden enemy units before they can strike. For protection from enemy fire, the Mist Lynx has three and a half tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor.

Armament:
In its primary configuration the Mist Lynx is armed to engage an enemy at any range. For long range combat, the Mist Lynx carries a single LRM-10 launcher, which is backed up by a Streak SRM-4 launcher for close combat. Finally, to protect itself from infantry, the Mist Lynx carries two Machine Guns.

Variants:
*  Alt. Config. A - The A configuration of the Mist Lynx is intended for artillery spotting and anti-infantry work. To spot for Arrow IV artillery, it carries a TAG laser designator. To protect itself from infantry attacks, it has two A-Pods, two Machine Guns, and a single Flamer. Finally, for added protection from missile attacks, the Mist Lynx A has two Anti-Missile Systems.

* Alt. Config. B - A close combat configuration, the Mist Lynx B has two ER Medium Lasers and two SRM-6 launchers for its primary weapons. These are backed up by a single ER Small Laser as a weapon for extremely close ranges.

* Alt. Config. C - The C configuration of the Mist Lynx is armed with a single ER Large Laser as its primary weapon backed up by an ER Medium Laser for close combat. For added protection, the Mist Lynx C has an Anti-Missile System for protection from missile fire and an ECM Suite to protect it from enemy electronic warfare systems.

* Alt. Config. D - A long range sniper configuration, the Mist Lynx D has a single Ultra Autocannon/2 for sniping at targets at long range. For close range protection, the 'Mech has an ER Medium Laser and an ER Small Laser.

Captain Nash's Mission #1 Analysis:

Very common among the ranks of the Smoke Jaguars, figure if you see a light Omni-mech chances are it will be a Koshi, or Mist Lynx as the clanners call them.  As with all Omni-mechs, the ease of swapping weapon systems make the capabilities and role of this chassis dependent on the loadout chosen.
The B or C configurations are the only ones I would worry about.  The D in the right hands might be a nuisance, but not really a threat.  Weakness of this mech is in the arms.  Remove the arms and with them goes all  the weapon systems on this mech.
